Find that Friendly Sanur Vibe at Café Bloom!

What are the ingredients for a perfect neighbourhood cafe? A great location…chill ambiance…friendly and engaging staff…and delicious coffee, of course!

If you haven’t had the opportunity to visit The Bali Florist in person, you might be surprised to know that nestled inside the warm and inviting space is a hidden gem that ticks all those boxes.

The Bali Florist and Café Bloom Bali

Café Bloom – just one year old as of September 12 — is the quintessential neighbourhood cafe, where everyone knows your name and they’re always glad you came. It’s where you can meet for a quick cuppa over lovely conversation, or a cozy spot to catch up on work. You are also guaranteed to meet the kindest baristas in Sanur while enjoying a delicious drink and mouth-watering homemade treat.

Opened during the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Café Bloom is also a beautiful example of a thriving business born out of a need for community and connection and a creative effort to invigorate a small space that was sitting idle – a truly fortunate stroke of serendipity.

Café Bloom sits in the original footprint that was once the quaint open-concept floral studio. In mid of 2020 when The Bali Florist expanded and moved next door, the question of what to do with the empty space came up. Rather than use it for floral staging or expanded retail offerings, the decision was made to offer something sorely needed during the pandemic – a space to meet a friend, smell a flower, and catch your breath.

The cafe connects to the florist through a large open door, making it hard to find a precise delineation between the two businesses, which is exactly how it was envisioned. The shared space encourages browsing, tasting, conversing and relaxing in a cozy, “Friends”-like setting.

The Café Bloom menu is curated to perfection, focusing on basics such as espresso-based drinks and refreshing teas for sharing, flaky pastries, chia pudding with granola and tropical fruits and tantalising grilled cheese sandwiches. The all-Indonesian coffee blend comes from Simply Brew, while herbal tea blends hail from Ubud-based Made Tea. Everything is served in custom Café Bloom ceramics commissioned from local artisans in Dalung, Bali. Like its sister business next door, Café Bloom is committed to supporting Indonesian brands and creating synergy through local relationships.

It must be said that the team is one of the most significant assets of The Bali Florist and Café Bloom. The Balinese staff is well-trained, confident, hard-working and hospitable. They are empowered to meet customers' needs and often go the extra mile – from learning their guests’ names to anticipating their usual drink of choice. The result is a genuinely sustainable business – team members who enjoy what they do, customers who return often, and partnerships within the community that lead to new and exciting exchanges of ideas and offerings.

Next time you’re in Sanur and need a break from the heat or a quick caffeine fix, head over to Café Bloom and let the team brew the perfect cup just for you. Enter in need of a caffeine fix, and leave with a smile on your face and a pep in your step!
